Ralph Gibson is an acclaimed American art photographer, best known for images that exude a combination of tension and barely contained energy. He is an artist of particular renown, especially for his photographic books. For Bottega Veneta Creative Director Tomas Maier, Ralph Gibson was a natural choice for the Fall-Winter 2013/2014 campaign because of the deep contextualization and surreal juxtaposition the photographer brings to his work. "I've admired Ralph's minimal yet formal aesthetic for some time, especially the way he looks beyond reproducing reality" he explains. "His ability to follow his instincts and respond spontaneously creates a new form of expression which is exactly what was required to evoke the emotion we wanted the campaign to relay."
